Szwast|Agnes Michels was the foremost expert in the Roman calendar. This book is now out-of-print and hard to find at a reasonable price. I expect that it is a little dated by now, but have yet to find a newer book of such academic caliber; most calendar books today I would call 'paperback academic.'
